Kids from Overtown’s “Touching Miami with Love” attend movie night after having tickets donated by “Island Angels”
The Zambranos organized a movie night for a showing of the “Hunger Games” at the gorgeous Paragon Theater in Coconut Grove. Half of every ticket purchased benefitted “ipadsforsoldiers.org”, a not-for-profit near and dear to their hearts. The org provides iPad 2’s to our troops on the front lines in Afghanistan as well as delivering them in person to our severely wounded troops in the DC and San Diego military hospitals. Because the iPads are small/lightweight, they easily fit in their packs, replacing bulky computers, books, cameras, games, etc. Most importantly, the “FaceTime” feature enables them to stay in visual communication with their families back home, and there are even military apps that help the to carry out missions! Additionally, some of Amy’s “Island Angel” group donated tickets (32!) for kids from “Touching Miami with Love” (Overtown after school program) to attend the movie night!
